Duties

Help
  • Provide leadership and is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, supervising, and coordinating of all aspects of the administrative and business management operations of ITB.
  • Ensure critical IT support to systems that provide 24/7 operation and maintenance of the NIH critical IT infrastructure, including systems that support patient and animal safety.
  • Provide project management duties for the Branch's software support and development contract.
  • Lead a team of diverse federal employees and contractors in varying IT fields, which require a broad knowledge base and high degree of judgment and technical program expertise to carry out these responsibilities.
  • Present technical briefings to senior management and supported organizations.

Qualifications

The classified title of this position is Supervisory IT Specialist; however, the descriptive organizational title is Section Chief - IT Operations and the position will be referenced as such throughout the announcement.

Basic Requirement:
The experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. IT-related experience must demonstrate each of the four competencies listed below:

  • Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  • Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: (1) Overseeing operations and maintenance of an organizations IT infrastructure; (2) Providing user support for information infrastructure systems and components; (3) Advising on applications, organizational wide systems, or network hardware and software; (4) Coordinating administrative and business management operations for a team; (5) Managing administrative contracts to ensure requirements are met.
