Summary

About the Position: You will administer tests in Military Entrance Test Sites, high schools and other educational institutions to individuals wishing to enter military service, using your own vehicle to transport test materials and maintaining security and inventory of the test materials.

You MUST reside within the local commuting area of Union and Essex County, NJ. You MUST be able to cover your assigned duty location and up to a 100 mile radius (200 miles round trip) of that location.

Duties

Help
  • Conducting specified aptitude examination sessions at various high schools to determine individual ability in preparation for career exploration.
  • Conducting specified aptitude examination sessions at various locations to determine individual qualifications for enlistment into the military service.
  • Distributing, collecting, and sorting all test materials ensuring confidentially and security of test materials is maintained.
  • Briefing applicants on completing forms and on testing procedures.
  • Resolving problems and issues during the testing sessions.
  • Conducting advance coordination with school officials and facility managers to facilitate proper testing environment.
  • Reviewing applicant test admission forms for completeness and to ensure applicants are authorized to enter examination area and test.
  • Preparing test session/applicant packages for processing/mailing to appropriate office.
  • Conduct test sessions utilizing paper and pencil and/or computerized test formats.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of general experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled, such as, Conducting thorough checks to ensure forms are properly completed; Distributing and collecting materials while accurately accounting for those materials; Orally presenting basic instructions to individual and/or groups and ensuring their understanding of instructions; Utilizing automated systems to provide reports/information to others. This definition of general experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-03).

OR

Education: Two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of by 60. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Advancement to positions up to GS-05: Candidates may be advanced without time restriction to positions up to GS-05 if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee held within the preceding 52 weeks under his or her latest non-temporary competitive appointment.
