Duties

Help
  • Sets up cafeteria lines, steam-tables, dining room tables, and side service stands with food items including meats, vegetables, salads, desserts, bread, butter, and beverages; replenishes as necessary. Serves food by order and proper proportions.
  • Assembles or toss fresh fruit and green salads in quantity using prepared dressings and portions into standard serving sizes. Makes cold sandwiches using prepared ingredients.
  • Stores cleaned dishes, glasses and silverware. Sweeps and mops kitchen floors. Cleans exhaust vents, hoods, windows, ceilings, and walls. Cleans and sanitizes trash cans; disposes of trash. May unload and store food from delivery trucks.
  • Washes tables and counters. Operates, break downs, and cleans all equipment assigned to the area for food preparation. Clean kitchen equipment such as worktables, sinks and refrigerators.
  • Scrapes, soaks, scours, and scrubs heavy cooking utensils such as mixing bowls or pots. Separates food waste and trash from dishes, glasses, and silverware. Loads dishwashers.

  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Completed and signed DA Form 3433 is required prior to entrance on duty.
  • Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training is required within 30 days of employment and a minimum of 4 hours refresher training annually.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2
  • Incumbent may be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.
  • Pre-employment physical is required.
  • Pursuant to EO 14043, all Federal employees, regardless of duty location or work arrangement, must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 by November 22, 2021, or before entrance on duty if after November 22, subject to exceptions as required by law.

Qualifications


1. Ability to understand and follow simple instructions
2. Ability to use hand tools for cleaning and operating simple machines
3. Must have skill and knowledge to perform tasks involving several procedures and be able to concentrate on work assignments despite interruptions and distractions.
4. Must have a working knowledge of sanitation standards is required as well as knowledge of procedures to prevent contamination.
5.Must know basic food handling techniques, personal hygiene standards and safe work procedures.
6. Must have the ability to read and understand written material.
7. Must have knowledge of basic arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals, such as counting the number of tables in order to determine the number of portions or meals required, or, how many servings a particular container will yield.

Highly Preferred - Resume must demonstrate experience in the highly preferred criteria
Highly preferred applicants will have experience in food service.
Those applicants who meet the minimum qualifications and the highly preferred criteria will be referred to the hiring manager first.
