Duties

Help

Across the globe, USAID is supporting countries affected by COVID-19. We are working directly with governments, multilateral organizations, NGOs, the private sector, and other organizations responding on the ground to combat the dangerous pathogen. Since the start of the outbreak, USAID and the State Department have committed more than $10 billion in health, humanitarian, economic, and development assistance specifically aimed at fighting the pandemic. This funding, provided by Congress, is helping to save lives by improving public health education; protecting healthcare facilities; and increasing laboratory, disease-surveillance, and rapid- response capacity in more than 120 countries.

To assist in this effort, USAID is looking for highly qualified and motivated individuals to fill the following positions:

  • Clearance Coordinator - Serve as the COVID-19 Task Force's Executive Secretariat to coordinate the drafting and clearances on all policy, programming, and communications materials related to COVID-19. Duties will include preparing materials, notes, and logistics for meetings; scheduling for the Executive Director of the Task Force as needed; maintaining up-to-date information to ensure consistency and accuracy; and liaising with the Agency's leadership and administrative support staff among other tasks.
  • Program Assistant - Support one or several leaders of the COVID-19 Task Force or a specific team of the COVID-19 Task Force to enable them to achieve their priorities and make the best use of their time. Duties will include managing calendars to reflect priorities and ensure meetings are well-planned and facilitated in terms of background, briefers, and issues to be covered; supporting staff on special projects; reviewing all correspondence drafted for signature to ensure clarity and that positions are clearly reflected; maintaining relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, etc.
  • Logistics Specialist (Rapid Response) - Support USAID's efforts to rapidly respond to COVID-19 surges around the world. Duties will include supporting data management relating to Hotspot identification and response; drafting briefing materials and support development of presentation materials; and work with additional task force pillars in providing information from Rapid Response on logistical issues.
  • Program Advisor (Rapid Response) - Support USAID's efforts to respond to COVID-19 surges around the world. The incumbent will oversee the planning and execution of projects to ensure it is according to goals and guidelines.
  • Program Analyst - The program analyst will evaluate the various functions and processes of various elements of the COVID Task Force. The incumbent will assess the overall organization of the programs and operations specific to the office/pillar to determine if they are effective and efficient.
  • Program Manager - The Program Manger will help to support the fulfillment of the overall mission of the COVID Task Force. The incumbent will assist in overseeing that tasks and initiatives remain on schedule, on budget, and ultimately reflect a positive upward trajectory of growth and success.
  • Senior Oxygen Advisor - Provide leadership to USAID's efforts to expand access to oxygen and sustainable oxygen systems where we work. Duties will include developing and coordinating a strategy, advising USAID Missions and technical partners, and cultivating partnerships.
  • Task Force Information Officer - Serve as the expert for providing daily monitoring and reporting on COVID-19 pandemic conditions and response activities. The Task Force Information Officer is required to write and edit a wide range of public and internal information products, as well as to develop charts, graphs and other visuals as needed.
  • Operations Manager - Responsible for day-to-day management of information and people to ensure the COVID-19 vaccine unit is highly functional and responsive to external and internal needs. Duties will include addressing needs related to the establishment and maintenance of processes, managing portfolio resourcing, information flow from the unit to external source, staff recognition and engagement, support systems, and executive support.
  • Cluster Coordinator - Serve as the day-to-day liaison to USAID's overseas Missions and Regional Bureaus for assessing and supporting country readiness and utilization of COVID-19 vaccines to provide intensive technical advice on vaccine access and delivery.
  • Communications Advisor - Lead drafter on internal documents taskers and external communications on issues pertaining to the vaccine unit. Duties will include developing, implementing, evaluating and ensuring quality of a Vaccine Unit communication and knowledge management strategy for multiple audiences at USAID, clearing materials, and liaising with USAID's communications staff in Washington and in overseas Missions.
