Summary
You will serve as a Family Medicine Physician in the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery Military Treatment Facility of NMRTC SAN DIEGO DET EASTLAKE.

You will formulate full treatment plans based on sound evaluation and diagnoses;
You will apply new scientific and/or technological procedures in the evaluation of complex patient diagnosis;
You will serve as a recognized authority for the medical program and to perform research and clinical investigations, as well as encourage and support clinical research of residents;
You will develop guidelines for interns, residents, and other medical staff to follow when carrying out patient care services; and/or assess program effectiveness for the delivery of patient care services;
You will communicate clearly, both verbally and written, with strong collaboration skills, to establish rapport; advise, counsel, guide, educate and instruct; gain the trust, confidence and cooperation of patients and their families;
You will perform emergency services or crisis intervention, including life-saving emergency procedures;
You will promote preventative and health maintenance care, stressing positive health behaviors;
Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

Residency Training for GP-15 Positions: Applicants must have successfully completed 5 years of graduate training in Family Medicine or equivalent experience and training.

Completion of a residency program in Family Medicine approved by the American specialty board or AOA, board certification, or board eligible
Current clinical competence (e.g., privileged to independently practice a Family Medicine Physician within the past 2 years, actively practiced within the past 2 years by having encountered a sufficient number of clinical cases to represent a broad spectrum of the privileges required)
No health status contraindications to granting clinical privileges
Board certification is desired but not required

Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Degree from Foreign Medical School: A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must have provided education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.
