Duties

Help
  • Uses varied functions of multiple office automation software to produce a wide range of documents, formats, etc
  • Prepares a wide variety of recurring and nonrecurring correspondence, reports, and other documents.
  • Reviews and processes incoming and outgoing correspondence, materials, publications, regulations, and directives.
  • Receives telephone calls and greets visitors.
  • Functional Area Records Manager (FARM) and authoritative expert responsible for the maintenance and disposition of office files and records.
  • Administer the AFMCLO Safety Awareness program by developing goals and objectives that implement AF, AFMC and WPAFB safety programs into the AFMCLO workplace environment.

  • The actual work performed in this position has been reviewed and determined that it does not meet any of the exemption criteria defined in 5 CFR 551. This position has been designated as nonexempt.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Position

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
GS-05: One (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-04, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of duties, priorities, commitments, policies, and program goals of the organization sufficient to perform nonroutine assignments, such as independently noting and following-up on commitments made at meetings/conferences; advising others on preparing correspondence, requirements for various reports, and interpreting new instructions and procedures; or locating and summarizing information from files and documents that requires recognizing which information is or is not relevant to the problem at hand.
OR
Education: Four years above high school.

GS-06: One year of specialized experience to at least the GS-05 level or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience must include knowledge of the duties, priorities, commitments, policies, and program goals of the organization sufficient to perform nonroutine assignments, such as independently noting and following-up on commitments made at meetings/conferences; shifting clerical staff in subordinate offices to respond to fluctuating workloads and knowledge required to coordinate the work of the office with the work of other offices and for recognizing the need for such coordination in various circumstances.

Education: One year of graduate level education in which is directly related to the work of the position.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Expert knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents, such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs.
2. Knowledge of correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and format to accurately prepare and edit written correspondence and reports.
3. Authoritative knowledge of format, rules, procedures and operations applicable to administrative assignments to prepare/review routine correspondence/reports, screen telephone calls and visitors, maintain files/records, review and process mail and perform administrative procedures
4. Skill in typing; a qualified typist may be required.
5. Ability to locate, assemble, and compose information for routine reports, inquiries, and nontechnical correspondence.
6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, using tact and courtesy.
7. Ability to conduct oneself in a professional manner.


PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The Secretary of the Air Force has delegated authority by the Office of the Secretary of Defense to directly appoint qualified post-secondary students and recent graduates directly into competitive service positions; these positions may be professional or administrative occupations and are located Air Force-Wide. Positions may be filled as permanent or term with a full-time or part-time work schedule. Pay will vary by geographic location.

Tax Law Impact for PCS: On 22-Dec-2017, Public Law 115-97 - the "Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017" suspended qualified moving expense deductions along with the exclusion for employer reimbursements and payments of moving expenses effective 01-Jan-2018 for tax years 2018 through 2025. The law made taxable certain reimbursements and other payments, including driving mileage, airfare and lodging expenses, en-route travel to the new duty station, and temporary storage of those items. The Federal Travel Regulation Bulletin (FTR) 18-05 issued by General Services Administration (GSA) has authorized agencies to use the Withholding Tax Allowance (WTA) and Relocation Income Tax Allowance (RITA) to pay for "substantially all" of the increased tax liability resulting from the "2018 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act" for certain eligible individuals.
