Duties

Help

POSITION REQUIRES WORKING WITH COMPUTERS, PERIPHERALS, SOFTWARE AND COMMON HAND AND ELECTRICAL TOOLS.

  • Assist in designing and responsible for implementing an Educational Technology Program for youth 6-18 years of age.
  • Plans, coordinates, and conducts activities for program participants based on observed needs of individual children/youth and in cooperation with other CYS staff.
  • Creates a positive environment in CYS Technology Lab that includes appropriate physical space, furnishings, wall displays, and resource materials and supplies to supplement computer software programs and Internet access.
  • Encourages participant interest and maintains an environment that promotes positive child and youth interactions with other children, youth, and adults.
  • Demonstrates proper work methods and provides work-related guidance to subordinates when required.
  • Interacts with children and youth using approved child guidance and youth development techniques.
  • Models appropriate behaviors and techniques for working with children and youth.
  • Observes program participants for signs that may indicate illness, abuse or neglect.
  • Trains children/youth in use of equipment and software programs.

  • A probation period of one year may be required.
  • Successfully complete a health screening. Immunizations required as a condition of employment for the health and safety of those in the facility.
  • MUST be 18 years of age at the time of appointment.
  • Possesses satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, 2-13, to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
  • In consideration of COVID-19, personnel within this area routinely wear personal protective equipment (cloth face coverings, latex gloves, and face shields) while performing their regular duties.
  • Must have current health assessment which documents good mental and physical health, freedom from communicable disease, and immunizations IAW current Army and DoD policy including annual influenza vaccinations.
  • Satisfactory performance, successful completion of training requirements (transition and/or annual) and demonstrated on the job competency is required.
  • Failure to achieve desired training with demonstrated competence may result in separation.
  • Possess and maintain ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs., walk, bend, stoop, and stand on a routine basis.
  • Pursuant to EO 14043, all Federal employees, regardless of duty location or work arrangement, must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 by November 22, 2021, or before entrance on duty if after November 22, subject to exceptions as required by law.

Qualifications

Candidates MUST:
1. POSSESS A PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATE OR HIGHER RELATED TO COMPUTER SCIENCE/INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
OR
Possess Twenty-four (24) MONTHS OF SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE WORKING AN EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM FOR YOUTH. Experience must be in scope of difficulty and complexity equivalent to the NF-02 level.
2.Possess knowledge and demonstrated skill in Microsoft Windows and Applications using the Internet (email, searching, web page design) and network computing.
3. Be able to communicate in English (verbal and written)
