Help

Team Leader of 10-15 WG 1/WG2 Housekeeping Aids performing as a project manager and alternate to the Housekeeping Aid supervisor on various shifts within the medical center. Performs floor care, maintenance, and all other housekeeping duties as assigned from the supervisor for the entire Medical Center. Other operations of the Housekeeping Aid Work Leader will be to provide coverage as the stand in shift supervisor in the scheduled and unscheduled absence for the first line supervisor.

Receives general instruction from the Section Supervisor. As a team leader, Housekeeping Aid-Work Leader passes on to other workers instructions received from all other Supervisors and gets work started. Selects equipment and supplies and provides guidance in all operations to insure that quality and quantity of production is maintained. Insures that all equipment is maintained and cleaned up prior to finishing their tour of duty, and is responsible for having a thorough working knowledge of all housekeeping equipment. Is also responsible for the assignment of employees on the team and selection of work sites by establishing work priorities of these duties.

In the absence of the Supervisor, the Housekeeping Aid-Work Leader is responsible for assigned supervisory duties. On these occasions, is responsible for assignment of all Housekeeping Aids on their tour of duty, granting emergent leave (final approval is granted by the section supervisor), supply needs, and overall supervision of the shift they are assigned to.

Performs non-supervisory work of the same level and level as done by the team leader.

Responsible to the Section Supervisor or the performance of team assignments. When unable to solve existing problems, incumbent is responsible for bringing these problems to the attention of the Section Supervisor.

Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualifications. For this position, the job element method is used to match what you, the applicant, can do against what the work calls for. Your knowledge, skills and abilities will be compared to the knowledge, skills and abilities (called job elements) needed for success. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Must be able physically to perform full range of housekeeping duties and activities, including the use of all power equipment. Work requires continuous standing, walking, stooping, reaching, bending, etc., and working with a variety of cleaning and disinfecting compounds. May also be required to use ladders to complete certain tasks or jobs.

Incumbent understands and observes fire and safety regulations and guidelines at all times. Ensures that they use correct body mechanics when lifting, carrying, etc. Reports safety hazards to supervisor promptly, correcting them where possible Keeps work area clean and free from dangerous items or substances Will be required to attend and contribute to assigned safety training, committees ad practices (i.e., fire drills). Ensures there are no lost time accidents that are the result of carelessness or negligence on the part of the employee.
