The IRS Internship Program offers IRS employees who are current students with an opportunity to work and explore new careers. You must meet the definition of a student during the duration of your internship as follows:

Every academic term (e.g., semester, quarter, etc), you must maintain good academic standing with an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. An academic year of undergraduate education is defined as 30 semester credit hours, 45 quarter credit hours, or the equivalent in an accredited college or university.

Works with higher graded staff in support of office programs and activities to gain practical work experience.
Typically performs duties such as: assisting higher level employees with special projects; maintaining files; faxing and reproducing materials; receiving and distributing telephone messages and mail; maintaining office supplies; typing labels, envelopes, and simple forms; marking one type of return or document at a time for subsequent processing; extracting or counting data from documents or reports and preparing listing; etc

Qualifications
Federal experience is not required. The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or Volunteer Service. In order to qualify, you must first meet IRS Internship Program eligibility:
Student Status: Current students in an accredited high school, college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate, including certain home-school curricula. Individuals must be taking at least a half-time academic course load. "Half-time" is defined by the school in which the student is enrolled.
Grade Point Average: You must maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher each semester.

GS-01 LEVEL: Enrollment in a high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) program.
