Works with internal subject matter experts to gather information to write and edit news releases, talking points, fact sheets, and other material for distribution internally and externally to convey FDIC’s policies, initiatives, programs, regulations, and responsibilities to the target audience.
Manages a portfolio of media relations and communications projects that convey complex information about a regulatory agency to the press, public, and other stakeholders.
Develops communications plans and strategies for the dissemination of information that supports external and internal communications efforts; Utilizes a wide-range of communications techniques and activities for a variety of audiences with the end goal of enhancing the understanding and support of the Corporations mission, priorities, and activities.
Conducts public engagement and media campaigns, developing and implementing strategies and tactics such as print, broadcast and digital media, social media, and live, virtual or recorded events.
Coordinates the posting of news releases and other materials to FDIC’s website, email distribution lists, and other channels; Monitors, analyzes and enhances the performance of communication activities.
Responds directly to media inquiries, as well as coordinates media interviews with FDIC subject matters experts.
Develops and maintains strong working relationships with media, responding to reporter inquiries, conducting media research, pitching stories to members of the media when appropriate, and keep internal stakeholders informed about areas of media interest.
Plans and coordinates logistics for media press events, public and/or speaking engagements aimed at informing and educating stakeholders about the agency’s programs and activities.
Explains FDIC actions, providing relevant materials, developing responses to anticipated questions from the press/media about information covered during public events, and facilitates press briefings and interviews for FDIC leaders or staff following events. Reviews content ahead of public dissemination and provides input on ways to best convey information.

Qualifications
Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the 12 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience researching, interpreting, coordinating and collaborating on topics and issues to respond to media and press inquiries; managing a portfolio of media relations and communication projects that convey information about an organization or agency to the press, public and other stakeholders; and experience developing communications plans and strategies for the dissemination of information for targeted audiences.
