OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT: Position located in the Office of Chief Financial Officer (OCFO), National Finance Center(NFC), Government Employees Services Division (GESD).

Duties

Help
  • Performs a combination of accounting tasks
  • Performs accounting and payroll methods, procedures, and techniques in order to reconcile payroll accounting data and accounts and prepare reports.
  • Analyzes various documents to determine discrepancies and identifies corrective action to be taken.
  • Prepares necessary adjustment documents to correct discrepancies and enters corrections in accordance with written instructions.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.

GS-06
One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-05 level in Federal Service or equivalent responsibility in the private sector/pay systems equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform as a
(1) Receives and reviews accounting documents for proper accounting codes, classification, signature, transaction codes, etc. (2) Maintains funds control, reimbursement, credits, collection, customer orders, and general ledger by processing day to day accounting documents, such as, orders for records, documents, and general ledger are in agreement. (3) Compiles selected data from various general ledgers accounts, subsidiary ledgers, listings, and files.

GS-07
One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-06 level in Federal Service or equivalent responsibility in the private sector/pay systems equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform as a (1) Performing related accounting, or other financial accounting procedural tasks in processing payroll transactions. (2) Sorting incoming documents, locating, assembling information, and correcting errors (3) Use established instructions, practices, or precedents for processing of accounting documents. (4) Prepares portions of financial statements, balance sheets, operating statements to reflect the status of the fund in accordance with reporting requirements.

Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

This position may be eligible to telework up to four days per week, based upon the duties of the position. This position may also be eligible for flexible work arrangements as determined by agency policy and any applicable collective bargaining agreements.

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.

Applications will be evaluated in accordance with Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) Delegated Examining Procedures and USDA policy using category rating. Applicants who meet basic minimum qualifications will be placed in one of two or three categories: Best Qualified, Well Qualified, or Qualified. Within these categories, applicants eligible for veteran's preference will receive selection priority over non-veterans. Category placement will be determined based on applicants' quality of experience and the extent they possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA) or competencies:
