Duties

Help
  • Independently perform a variety of warehousing tasks required in the movement and handling of medical and non-medical material.
  • Operate various material handling equipment capable of lifting 2,000 to 6,000 pounds, as high as 168 inches, to transport boxes, crates, and material.
  • Construct crates for packing items in boxes, metal containers or cartons.
  • Transport and restock periodic automatic replenishment items in specific locations.
  • Order stocked medical items via point-of-use systems such as PYXIS or OMINICELL or utilizing a hand held terminal.

  • This position may require rotating shift work between the hours of 0630-1500, and 1500-2230 and may also include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement.
  • This position may require an immunization screening to determine inoculation for Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR), Hepatitis B series, Chickenpox titer and skin test screening for Tuberculosis (TB).
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Position is designated as Mission Essential. The incumbent will be required to insure continuity of Tripler Army Medical Center's operations during ALL hazards emergency situations.
  • This position requires a pre-employment physical and any sub-sequent annual physical.
  • This position requires to lift up to 70lbs. Heavier items are moved with weight handling equipment, push carts, or with the assistance of other workers.
  • This position may require to travel up to 5% of the time.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Forklift Operator License within 120 days of employment.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Materials Handler (FLO) without more than normal supervision. Operating automated guided vehicles in mechanized warehouses; stacking, moving, and arranging items on pallets; and ordering, receiving and storing supplies - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Physical Efforts: Continual standing on hard floors for extended periods of time, bending, stooping and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions is required. Lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 70 pounds is required. The heavier items are moved with weight handling equipment, push carts, or with assistance from co-workers. Moderate physical effort is used in operating hand and foot controls while driving, turning, starting, and stopping the fork lift truck and raising, lowering, and tilting the loads being moved. Strain is caused by the vibration of the fork lift truck.
  • Working Conditions: Work is performed in climate-controlled areas, storage rooms, etc. Normally is not exposed to extreme heat or cold conditions. Work is done inside or outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty or poorly lighted. May be regularly exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, abrasions, falls, injury from falling stock, physical handling of moderately heavy items or moving materials handler equipment. May be exposed to dust, dirt, and to high noise levels. When working around hazardous materials, may be subject to exposure from hazards, flammables, or chemical fumes. Work may require wearing protective clothing such as hard-hats, steel-toed shoes, rubber gloves, masks, safety glasses, back supports and harnesses/belts.
