Duties

Help

As a Supervisory Archivist, you will:

- Plan and direct a program for the identification, analysis, review, processing, release, and assessment of preservation needs for classified Federal and Presidential records.
- Maintain liaison with representatives of other Federal government agencies conducting declassification review of records at NARA to ensure appropriate archival handling of the records and compliance with NARA procedures and to provide technical and administrative support as needed.
- Plan and implement review projects on distinct groups of records (record groups, series, subseries, or collections) or specific documents in response to FOIA requests for unreviewed security classified accessioned records.
- Provide technical assistance related to the review and declassification of records to other NARA offices.
- Direct the preparation and submission of appropriate documentation on all classified records and ensure compliance with all NARA standards for description and control of records.
- Recommend disposal of records, as appropriate, according to approved lists and schedules.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

To be qualified for this position at the GS-14 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience for this position includes:

Experience leading a team, program, or project.; AND
Experience collaborating and executing communication strategies, plans or policies to individuals.; AND
Managing multiple priorities. Examples of such assignments may include responding to inquiries, reviewing reports, recognizing errors, and reconciling problems.

In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-14, you must have been at the GS-13level for 52 weeks.

Education

Education Requirements: The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

Basic requirements for all grades:

Applicants who meet the basic requirements described in the Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) are fully qualified for the specified entry grade (generally grade GS-5). Applicants who wish to qualify for positions at higher grade levels (generally grade GS-7 and above) must also meet the requirements shown in the table on page IV-A-22, in addition to meeting the basic requirements.

A. Bachelor's degree in archival science or bachelor's degree with a major that includes 18 semester hours in archival science, history and/or in political science or government, and 12 semester hours in one or any combination of the following: archival science, history, American civilization, economics, political science, public administration, or government.

OR

B. Combination of education and experience - at least 30 semester hours that included courses as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
