Open to any U.S. citizen, at least 16 years old, who will be enrolled during the Fall 2021 academic term in a degree or certificate seeking program, taking at least a half-time course load. You also must have a GPA of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale. Applicants must have at least one year remaining in their required coursework for completion of their degree or certificate.

Duties

Help

  • Review and assess complaints and allegations received by the Investigations Division to determine investigative and/or prosecutive viability to ensure the effective use of agency resources. These allegations typically include criminal acts such as bribery, false statements, conspiracy, embezzlement and fraud.
  • Prepare reports of investigative interviews and activities.
  • Document the Official Case Files (OCFs) and the Investigations Management Information System (IMIS) in accordance with policies set forth in the Special Agent Manual.
  • Ensure work products are in alignment with SBA OIG investigative priorities and in compliance with established 010 policies/procedures, PCIE standards, Attorney General Guidelines, and Peer Review Guidelines, e.g., ROls, MOIs, MOAs, use of investigative techniques, case management guidelines, etc.
  • Participate in regular meetings with the SAC, ASAC, and SAs to ensure full knowledge of investigative activities and related topics.
  • Provide quality administrative support to the SAC, ASAC and SAs.

  • You must sign a Pathways Intern Participant Agreement.
  • You must reside in the local commuting area.
  • Due to COVID-19, the SBA is currently in an expanded telework status. If selected, you may be permitted to temporarily telework from a location outside the official duty station described in this announcement.
  • Once employees are permitted to return to the office, you will be expected to report to the duty station listed in this announcement. At that time, you will be eligible to request telework in accordance with the SBA's telework and office policies.

Qualifications

GS-1899-04: Completion of 2 academic years of post-high school study OR Successful completion of the requirements for an Associate's degree (please verify by attaching a copy of your college transcripts).

Academic year of undergraduate education (post-high school study):

A minimum of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours at an accredited college or university; or
A minimum of 36 weeks at an accredited business, technical, vocational, or qualifying educational institution for at least 20 classroom hours per week.

SUITABILITY, CLEARANCE & REQUIREMENTS: A background investigation may be required for all new hires.
