Duties

Help
  • You will direct and provide for the overall administrative management of the day-to-day operations of the assigned NCIS field/subordinate offices, including the directing, coordinating, approving and maintenance of various administrative processes.
  • You will supervise the work of subordinates, set objectives for accomplishing projects, and establish work standards.
  • You will participate in the long-range planning of personnel, budget, supplies, equipment, vehicles, and other administrative areas; you will develop/conduct surveys and studies, gather and analyze data, and assist in/implement approved proposals.
  • You will direct the budgeting and financial management activities for field and subordinate offices to include the allocation and exploration of funds, in-depth cost-benefit analysis of budget requests, and authorizing/monitoring of expenditures.
  • You will oversee, coordinate, and manage the billet structure, contracting operations, leases and construction, modernization proposals, vehicle management, files/evidence, field training, relocation, and other administrative programs/activities.
  • You will assign/review work, advise on all administrative matters, evaluate performance, and recommend actions to the Special Agent in Charge (SAC).

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You must acknowledge in writing that you are accepting an appointment in the excepted service which does not confer competitive status, prior to appointment.
  • Non-preference eligibles will need to complete a 2 year trial period, and preference eligibles will need to complete a 1 year trial period, if not previously completed in the competitive or other excepted service.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites.
  • Must be able to obtain an interim and/or final (top secret) security clearance prior to entrance.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

GS-13: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Planning, managing, and executing office budget and acquisitions; performing long-range planning in the areas of manpower, supplies, and equipment; managing investigative and administrative case files; and managing a government purchase card program.

GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Managing and executing an office budget; managing facilities maintenance; making recommendations in manpower levels; and using government purchase card for the procurement of equipment and supplies.
