Duties

Help
  • Develop annual and multi-year plans, goals and objectives for the Branch.
  • Assist the Chief Information Officer in the direction of the work subordinates and contractors.
  • Disseminate Branch priorities and provide oversight and supervision to the planning, budgeting, conception, design, engineering, development, implementation, testing, and review of information technology initiatives.
  • Direct planning and implementation of large, complex technical feasibility and market studies.
  • Create new methods and develops innovative strategies and solutions for the Branch and Institute's information technology problems and issues.

Qualifications

The classified title of this position is Supervisory IT Specialist; however, the descriptive organizational title is Deputy Chief Information Officer and the position will be referenced as such throughout the announcement.

In order to qualify for a
Deputy Chief Information Officer, GS-2210 at the GS-14 level, you must: Have IT related experience demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience obtained in either the private or public sector, and/or completion of specific, intensive training that demonstrates that I possess each of the following four competencies:

Basic Requirements:
1. Attention to Detail- is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail; and

2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services; and

3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately; and

4. Problem Solving - identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations;

To qualify at the GS-14 level: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS13 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: providing IT project management and application development; presenting technical briefings and advising senior management; providing technical advice to staff on cybersecurity policies, applications, organization-wide systems, or evaluation of network hardware and software; planning and coordinating administrative and business management operations of a team; and managing contract requirements.
