Duties

Help
  • You will validate that prospective IT system users have satisfied all requirements for systems access and authorizes or denies access requests as appropriate.
  • You will track authorizations in an auditable fashion in keeping with data retention requirements and provides guidance to Headquarters personnel in proper execution of access requirements.
  • You will track and process functional token request and performs audits on token sponsors.
  • You will act as the primary Data Destruction Action Officer for Secret and below electronic media.
  • You will receive, inventory and destroy retiring Hard Drives and/or removable media (CD/DVD) and provides confirmation of destruction to the former owner.
  • You will ensure chain of custody is well established and documented..
  • You will act as the primary Incident Management response agent for COMPACFLT Headquarters, answering to the Command Information System Security Manager.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-9 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience conducting system security evaluations or audits to protect data, information systems, and networks from cybersecurity threats and ensuring systems, networks, and data users adhere to systems security policies and procedures.

Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience:
Successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, graduate education that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.-

OR-
Successfully completed 3 full years (54 hours) of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, graduate education that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.-

OR-
Combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.

Thank you for your interest in the Information Technology Specialist (Security) GS-2210-11 position. This position resides at the US Pacific Fleet Headquarters, Communications and Information Systems directorate and serves as the Identity and Access Management (IDAM) Subject matter Expert (SME) for the Information Assurance Branch located at the Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet (COMPACFLT) Headquarters in the Office of Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (C4I) Directorate, U.S. Pacific Fleet (N6).
As the world's largest fleet command, the U.S. Pacific Fleet encompasses 100 million square miles, nearly half the Earth's surface, from Antarctica to the Arctic Circle and from the West Coast of the United States into the Indian Ocean. The U.S. Pacific Fleet consists of approximately 200 ships/submarines, nearly 1,200 aircraft, and more than 130,000 Sailors and civilians.

The primary duties for this position is to provide support for COMPACFLT's IT access management, destruction of classified material, managing Headquarters Cyber Security Incident Response, performing data transfers and reporting Headquarters compliance with Information Assurance requirements.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
