Duties

Help
  • As an Operations Research Analyst, you will perform duties to including but not limited to the following:
  • Responsible for the application of operations research and data analysis techniques to determine the best data-driven approaches to readiness and warfighting, using emerging data science methodologies.
  • Plans and conducts, as project lead or member of a study team, relevant research and analytical studies of Army problems to support critical business processes and/or decisions.
  • Provides technical input to reports and documents that are the basis for formulating a doctrine, organization, materiel, training, leader, personnel, facilities, and policy (DOTMLPF-P) approach to data-driven readiness and warfighting.
  • Works with and alongside analysts, integrators, and program managers on future and projected initiatives supporting Commands, Army-wide, that are highly unstructured and complex.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definitions below:

BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Successful completion of a bachelor's or higher degree in operations research or successful completion of a bachelor's or higher degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses
courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 hours must be in calculus.

In addition to meeting the basic education requirement above, you must also meet the specialized experience requirements below:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes executing complex and major analytical studies, preparing data collection, utilizing data science methodologies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
