This detail opportunity is for current competitive and excepted service employees only. If
you are not a current federal civilian employee you will not be eligible for this position. DHS Joint Duty Assignments do not apply to members of the Military service or contractors.
Members may respond to natural and man-made disasters, acts of terrorism, and other major incidents. Working in a variety of FEMA program areas depending on operational requirements such as Individual Assistance, Disaster Survivor Assistance, External Affairs, IT, Logistics, National Disaster Recovery Support, Equal Rights, Planning, among others.
Member Requirements:
Full-time federal employee from any federal agency
Grade GS-15 and below
Have a valid federal government identification badge compliant with Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD)-12 requirements from your Agency
Have a valid Government-issued travel card
Successful completion of your agency's anti-harassment training within the last 365 days
Obtain supervisor approval
Successful completion of the following required online Independent Study courses and exams through the Emergency Management Institute (EMI) (https://training.fema.gov/is/):
IS-100.C: Introduction to the Incident Command System, ICS 100
IS-102.C: Preparing for Federal Disaster Operations: FEMA Response Partners*
IS-35.21: FEMA Safety Orientation 2021*
IS-700.B: An Introduction to the National Incident Management System
IS-800.D: National Response Framework, an Introduction
Additional information
Work Hours:
SCF members may be required to work evenings and/or weekends. Extensive overtime may be required. Appropriate premium pay rates will be used in accordance with Federal Pay regulations.
Pay & Benefits:
DHS SCF members continue to be paid by their home agency, the home agency will pay the base 80 hours/pay period. FEMA will reimburse documented overtime and approved expenses. As a federal employee, both your health care coverage and worker's compensation will remain with you during deployment; however, if you have a state-managed plan, you may want to check their policy on providers out of state/out of network.
Deployment and Duration of Detail:
Deployments are projected to last up to 45 days. You may be asked to deploy within 48 hours after a declared DHS SCF activation.

Locations will vary within the US States and territories.
