Duties

Help
  • May audit and submit scale tickets or tree measurement tally sheets, review computer output, and prepare reports as required by workload.
  • Compiles information from field data and computes the mathematical portions of timber sale appraisals. Reviews documents in sale package to detect and correct any discrepancies in rates, dates, land descriptions, and other data.
  • Computes, audits, and summarizes tally sheets. Ensures all transactions are input in the timber sale accounting system to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Answers inquiries about small sales program such as proposed sale volumes, locations, products, dates of offerings, etc.

Qualifications

You must possess the qualifications requirements identified below to be considered qualified for this position. Specialized Experience Requirement:

Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-4 grade level;

OR

A bachelor's degree or 4 years of successfully completed education above high school;

OR

Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education (in excess of the first 60 semester hours) and specialized experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

Examples of specialized experience are: inputting and auditing data processing documents; checking accounting documents to ensure all payments are received, reviewing permit updates for payments, errors, and negative cash action; maintaining various project files and records; and drafting written correspondence.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.


Education

Education completed in foreign colleges and universities may be used if it has been accredited or evaluated by an organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
