Duties

Help
  • May operate under different conditions, such as mud, snow, and areas where trees and shrubs present operational hazards. Performs minor maintenance on field-type tractors and attached and towed equipment.
  • Makes multiple connections between the tractor and attached or towed equipment. Adjusts the equipment for job requirements such as setting the height of mower blades, depth of plow blades, and the rate of application of sprayer attachments.
  • Performs the work according to established methods or special instructions. Makes difficult judgements concerning tractor operations; selects power settings, gears, and the order in which the work is to be accomplished.
  • Is responsible for operating in a safe manner at the work site and while in transit to/from the work site. Responsible for operator maintenance on tractors and equipment such as checking and replenishing fluids to proper levels and changing filters.
  • Incumbent operates a field-type tractor with attached and towed equipment. Transports materials and equipment. Digs, loads, plants, clears, mows and dispenses liquid and solid materials.

  • Completed and signed DA Form 3433 is required prior to entrance on duty
  • Satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para. 2.
  • Incumbent may also be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.
  • A physical assessment is required.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
1. One year related experience in operating and performing minor maintenance on a field-type tractor and associated equipment.
2. Must have and retain a valid driver's license.
3. Must be willing to obtain a Government motor vehicle operator's permit, if required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Applicant must be physically capable of lifting supplies and materials up to 100 pounds; frequent arm and leg movements to operate tractor controls, and exposure to pollen and chemical fumes, weather extremes, and possible cuts and bruises.
