Duties

Help

Duties include, but are not limited to:
-Serves as a multimedia producer insuring high production quality before live and recorded productions, assembling show elements before air, serving as a studio producer and completing logs shortly after a program airs.
-Conceptualizes, designs, creates and produces original stories for use in radio, TV and/or digital and social media that conform to VOA standards and include original research, field interviews, story principals, appropriate experts, other production elements and feed materials.
-Performs difficult translations and adaptations of a variety of wire materials and centrally prepared English-language news and features into idiomatic Indonesian.
-Selects, edits, adapts and uploads Indonesian Service news, correspondent reports, backgrounders, features, photographs, graphics, and audio/video elements onto the Indonesian Service website, social media sites and affiliate portal (USAGM Direct).
-Shoots and/or records and edits original content. Assemble, coordinate and direct the resources necessary to produce quality content for multimedia applications.
-Voices all types of material for audio content in Indonesian and English.
-Keeps abreast of current developments in the Indonesia in order to plan and develop program materials that are relevant and consistent with broad U.S. policy aims.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: Applicants must have a minimum of one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility comparable to the GS-09 or comparable pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector and fluency in Indonesian and English that demonstrates ability to write, report, interview, and announce broadcasts in both languages.

Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. For this position, the following specialized experience is required:
1. Experience of journalistic work generating quality coverage of stories, events, and interviews;
2. Shooting photos and videos, recording audio, editing audio and video for use on digital and social media, radio and/or TV;
3. Preparing scripts and developing graphics for use on multimedia platforms; and
4. Demonstrated knowledge of Indonesia, its history, economics, culture, socio-political development as well as its media landscape and trend.

Education

GS-11 level-Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education with major study in journalism, communications, history, economics, political science, international relations or other field related to the position leading to such a degree OR LL.M., if related.
OR Combining Education and Experience: Equivalent combination of successfully completed education and experience may be used to meet the experience requirements.
