Duties

Help
  • Serve as a work leader in the processing of military pay transactions.
  • Monitor and direct work activities which involve the examination of military pay documents to determine the accuracy and propriety of payments or the need for collection action to ensure proper payment to military members.
  • Exercise precision in entering personnel actions, reviewing pay authorization documents, determining entitlements, and processing pay entitlement actions that serve as a basis for pay and leave computation and affect the disbursement of pay.
  • Conduct audits and review rejects making corrective action when necessary, processes reports, and performs research.
  • Provide one-on-one assistance to military members regarding personal services.
  • Review financial records of service members who are retiring, separating or re-enlisting.
  • Review completed pay actions, audit a wide variety of difficult pay actions, and compile information regarding the causes of incorrect pay entitlements.

  • This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.

Qualifications

Time in Grade:
For entry at the GS-07 level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-06 or higher grade in the Federal Service.

Specialized Experience:
For the GS-07, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to GS-06 if outside the Federal service.

Specialized experience is defined as reviewing and processing a wide variety of non-recurring military payroll transactions; determining entitlements; verifying all documents for propriety, completeness and accuracy; and resolving problems within automated pay accounts related to payroll actions, regulations, policies and procedures.

In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirements, qualified applicants must also possess the quality of experience as it relates to how closely or to what extent an applicant's background, recency of experience, education, and training are relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the announced position. Candidates must clearly demonstrate the possession of knowledge, skills and abilities, or competencies necessary to successfully perform the work of the position at the appropriate level to be qualified for the position. Education

GS-07 (1-grade interval) Substitution of Education for Experience: One full year of graduate level education may be substituted to meet the specialized experience required when it is directly related to the work of the position being filled.
