Duties

Help
  • Implements procedures to safeguard classified equipment and materials for all regional offices.
  • Investigates (prospective) employees regarding claims of derogatory nature and evaluates suitability of employee to receive security clearances.
  • Trains and/or screens military and civilian personnel on security programs and procedures
  • Implements appropriate policies and procedures to prevent security breaches.
  • Develops guidelines and serves as the focal point for matters related to safeguarding information of national security.
  • Produces reports that details the security status for all regional offices.
  • Provides regulatory guidance for the coordination of finding and recommendations relating to Intelligence Support, Crime Prevention and Investigation, the DOD Industrial Security Program, and billeting for Special Compartmental Information (SCI).

  • This position has been identified for the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification Program requiring the incumbent to obtain the Physical Security Certification (PSC) within their first 2 years of employment.
  • This position has been identified for the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification Program requiring the incumbent to obtain the Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first 2 years of employment.
  • This position requires you to obtain and maintain Physical Security Inspector Credentials by attending U.S. Army Military Police School (USAMPS) Conventional Physical Security Course within first 18 months of employment at this agency.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • Financial Disclosure Statement OGE Form 450 is used to assist agencies and employees to avoid conflicts between duties and financial interest. This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 35% of the time.
  • This position is supervisory, one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: s: (1) Managing security programs in the areas of Anti-Terrorism, Physical, Personnel, Operations, Information, or Industrial security; (2) conducting risk assessment and/or vulnerability assessments in regard to mission assurance; (3) Developing policy and reports in serviced security areas; AND (4) Facilitating inventory and control procedures for all classified materials and/or assigned equipment designated as sensitive. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
