This position is located in the Office of Diversion Control Policy (DP), Policy Section (DPY).The incumbent will perform such duties as:
Providing research, logical and reasoned writing and analysis, and interpretations for Diversion related policies that may include Federal regulations, internal processes.
Conducting extensive research and utilizes technical expertise to prepare responses that are accurate, legally defensible, and practical in application including cost benefit and cost impact considerations.
Performing reviews of existing legislation and pending legislative initiatives pertaining to regulated industries and professions.
Preparing analysis and reports in anticipation of major trends in state legislation, manufacturing industry, and health professions and identifies potential cost benefit and cost impact implications.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Background and/or Security Clearance
Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service
Drug testing designated position
Successful completion of an one-year probationary period is required (unless already completed).
Qualifications
GS-13: You must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 Federal grade level performing the following duties to include 1) Serving as the technical expert for the implementation of policy regulations; 2) Implementing and interpreting federal policies, regulations, guidelines, directives, and international treaties on controlled substances and listed chemicals; 3) Analyzing and evaluating agency publications on quotas and other regulatory policies; 4) Drafting regulations, temporary scheduling reports; 5) Preparing and presenting briefing to senior management on modifications to laws that impact changes in the agency regulations; assisting in the evaluation of the effectiveness of foreign and domestic controlled substances programs; 6) Completing analytical assignments involving the prevention, detention, and determent pertaining to controlled substances and listed chemicals.
GS-14: You must have one (1)year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 Federal grade level performing such duties as: 1) Conducting extensive research and analysis of laws, regulations, policies, and international treaties to assess impact and risk; 2) Using in-depth analysis to gain a thorough understanding of the regulatory process and the federal mandates that govern the process in order to compose new or modified regulations and policy-related documents; 3) Drafting or recommending changes to regulations to ensure compliance with federal legislation and policy directives; 4) Researching and evaluating the impact of existing and proposed statues, regulations, and policy directives.
