  • INTERNSHIP: Must meet the requirements for the Internship Program.
  • GPA: Cumulative GPA of 2.5 - must maintain at least a 2.5 GPA throughout the entire internship appointment.
  • PATHWAYS AGREEMENT: You will be required to sign a Pathways Internship Program Participant Agreement.
  • ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENT: You must be enrolled at least half-time at a qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate.
  • PROOF OF ENROLLMENT: You must furnish course registration information at the start of each school term; and provide verification of academic status (transcript) at the end of each academic term.
  • STUDENT STATUS: You must maintain status as a current student while on this appointment.
  • WORK SCHEDULES: Interns may work full-time during the summer and flexible part-time work schedules during the school year (based on agency needs) while continuing their education.
  • The anticipated start date of this position is May 2021. You must meet the definition of "student" on and after this date to be eligible for hire.

Qualifications

All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying education must have been obtained from an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

In order to qualify for this position at the grade SK/GS-04 level you must meet the definition of a student and possess at least one of the following:

(A.) One year of general experience with progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.
OR
(B.) Two years of education above the high school level.
OR
(C.) A combination of post-high school education and general experience, as described above, which meets 100% of the qualification requirements.

PASS/FAIL COURSES: If more than 10 percent of your undergraduate course work (credit hours) were taken on a pass/fail basis, your claim of superior academic achievement must be based upon class standing or membership in an honor society.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. Employees hired under the Pathways Programs on appointments for 90 days or more are eligible to earn annual and sick leave; additionally, these employees may be eligible for health benefits.

Selectees for this position are ineligible for life insurance and retirement (including the Thrift Savings Plan).

Converting to the Competitive Service: As part of the Pathways Internship Program, the appointment may be extended until the selectee's educational program requirements have been completed.
