About the Position:
Serve as a senior Public Affairs Specialist in providing input to the District Public Affairs Officer (PAO) and conducting the Commander's public affairs program for the District. Incumbent is responsible for providing command communications guidance, counsel and training; plan and execute strategic communications and e-communications activities; and manage and coordinate the District's employee services/information.

Duties

Help
  • Identify issues involving misinformed or uninformed publics and designs.
  • Provide input to the Public Affairs Officer in overseeing the district command information program.
  • Review final authority for content and customer serviceability.
  • Develop new tools to improve District response and relationships with customers.
  • Oversee the developing and managing of e-technology/traditional systems.
  • Provide input for featured writing, publication design, and ceremony planning.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. GS-12 Minimum Qualification:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1.) planning/executing strategic communications and e-communications activities for the Public Affairs Office, responding to media queries and information requests; 2.) identifying public affair issues and opportunities to insure efficiency/effectiveness of program metrics; and 3.) preparing presentations and message points of key issues related to the District or Public Affairs Office, providing input with media services program/ community relations and exhibit program.

  • This position will be located in Vicksburg, MS and will allow for situational telework only. This position is NOT eligible for Full time telework.
