Help

This position is located in Investigations Division, Headquarters in the Hotline Operations Branch with a physical location in Washington, DC.

If you are selected as the Supervisory Investigator (Director of Hotline Operations), your responsibilities would include program management, administrative activities within the Investigations Division. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Directs the operation of the OIG Hotline Program.
  • Provides program management oversight and serves as the technical and policy subject matter expert in the area of investigative complaint programs.
  • Supervises the complaint intake group and directs the handling of complaints involving allegations of waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement within DOJ programs and operations.
  • Coordinates the drafting of responses to controlled correspondence from Congress, Federal, and state government officials, and other public officials directed to DOJ, the OIG, or the Investigations Division.
  • Represents the DOJ/OIG in briefings or meetings, and provides updates related to Hotline operations verbally and in writing.
  • Utilizes automated tracking systems for reviewing and analyzing non-jurisdictional complaints.
  • Conducts inquiries and analyses into allegations considered highly sensitive or extremely complex. Recommends follow-up steps to ensure the matters are being handled appropriately and recommend additional steps to senior staff.
  • Processes investigative reports for dissemination to the DOJ components, implements changes to this program as needed, and communicates changes impacting headquarters and Division field locations accordingly.
  • Works closely with the Office of Data Analytics to ensure Investigations Division data analysis is being interpreted correctly.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position at the GS-15 grade level, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level obtained in the public sector. (Specialized experience is paid or unpaid experience which has equipped you with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.) Examples of specialized experience include such duties as: supervising a team engaged in conducting comprehensive investigative researches encompassing allegations of criminal and administrative infractions; comprehensive knowledge of program management and extensive knowledge of investigative and analytical techniques.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade level (or equivalent).
