Duties

Help
  • Identify requirements, and determine work to be accomplished on projects.
  • Use formulas in order to make calculations in order to execute specific jobs.
  • Develop detailed step by steps instructions for work to be performed.
  • Determine what materials are required to accomplish maintenance projects.
  • Prepare estimate for labor and materials for projects.
  • Prepare sketches reflecting construction details with a complete list of materials.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a PLANNER AND ESTIMATOR (MAINTENANCE MECHANIC) without more than normal supervision. Identify requirements and determine work to be accomplished on projects using formulas in order to make calculations and plans, interpret complex instructions, sketches, blueprints, and building codes, prepare hand drawn sketches, use AutoCAD Light program, Facility Equipment Maintenance System (FEMS), and Win Estimator to develop the phase of work to be performed, determine material required to accomplish projects, prepare estimates for labor and materials for projects based on knowledge of carpentry, processes and process sequences. Work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.

  • PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work requires considerable walking, standing, climbing, and crawling. Lifts and carries
    moderately heavy equipment, such as ladders (25-50 pounds).
  • WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside and outside during all seasons of the year under all weather conditions. May work underneath buildings or in other close, poorly ventilated, humid areas, such as attics. There is danger of injury from falls off ladders and roofs; incumbent is subject to cuts and bruises during the course of estimating.
