Duties

Help
  • Review and study radiation related documents to assure completeness and compliance with all regulations.
  • Utilize a practical working knowledge of technical work primarily in support of the radiation program.
  • Serve as representative of the Department of Defense (DOD) worldwide radioactive waste disposal program.
  • Communicate with contractors, users, sponsors, outside reviewers, representatives of base command to ensure there is a full understanding of the scope of work for the radiation program.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance. If the security clearance is denied or revoked, the individual may be denied or removed from the position, accordingly.
  • Selectees must meet the position requirements for Level II certification in Acquisition Career Field- Facilities Engineering. Selectee must meet certification requirements within 24 months of entrance on duty.
  • Incumbent is required to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450, (5CFR Part 2634, Subpart I USOGE, 6/08). Executive Branch Personnel Confidential Financial Disclosure Report upon entering the position and annually.
  • This position is Emergency-Essential (E-E); subject to on-call and irregular work hours. Selection for assignment to this position requires passing appropriate physical examination for overseas duty.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience Required:

To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled such as:identifying the hazards of radiation to personnel, property and the environment; planning, directing, and conducting technical radiation safety training for personnel involved in radiation sources; and providing radiological safety procedural requirements for incorporation in technical publications pertaining to the use, maintenance, calibration, storage and disposal of radioactive items.

Education cannot be substituted for experience.

BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:

Degree:
Natural science or engineering that included at least 30 semester hours in health physics, engineering, radiological science, chemistry, physics, biology, mathematics, and/or calculus.

OR

Combination of education and experience -- courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or other education; or certification as a health physicist by the American Board of Health Physics, plus appropriate experience and other education that provided an understanding of sciences applicable to health physics comparable to that described in paragraph A.
