Duties

Help

As a Communication Coordinator, GS-0301-13, you will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring OIG reports are reviewed in a timely manner by OIG executives and subject matter experts to meet internal and Congressional mandates for issuance and posting.
  • Ensuring final OIG work products are free of error, cleared by appropriate OIG executives, are Section 508 compliant, and posted within required time frames
  • Critically analyzing written products and associated reviewer comments for internal and external audiences' understanding. Formulating written products in a suitable form for top level decisions and express information to individuals or groups taking into account the audience and nature of the information (e.g. technical, sensitive, or controversial).
  • Serving as the OIG's Section 508 Compliance Officer by ensuring all public-facing work products are compliant with Section 508 and plain language requirements.
  • Assisting with the tracking of cases in the internal OIG Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act (PA) tracking spreadsheet and serve as a key liaison with the public concerning OIG information and records dissemination that encompass verbal, written, electronic, and telephonic communications.

  • Time-in-grade requirement - Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions contained in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications GS-13 :
To qualify for this position, your application must demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service performing ALL of the following:

  1. Writing, editing, and formatting documents written by senior level employees
  2. Analyzing work products to determine if modifications, such as adding visuals or editing writing, are needed to best suit the audience
  3. Ensuring published content is compliant with Section 508 and Federal plain language requirements
  4. Researching and staying abreast of publishing concepts, updates, and standards, to include updates related to Section 508 compliance and Federal plain language requirements, AND
  5. Serving as a public liaison to external customers that include members of the media, Congress, or the public

Education

There is no education substitute for the GS-13 level.

How you will be evaluated

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.

Applicants will be evaluated based on their possession of the following competencies:

  • Knowledge of and ability to apply grammar, style, and standard usage
  • Knowledge of publishing concepts, practices, standards, and advances in publishing technology
  • Knowledge of Section 508 compliance and plain language requirements
  • Oral communication skill
