Summary
The incumbent serves as an Accreditation Manager for the Agricultural Marketing Service's (AMS) National Organic Program's (NOP) Accreditation Division. Incumbent may be based anywhere in the U.S. The NOP may select multiple candidates for this position.
Conducting quality system and regulatory compliance assessments of accredited certifying agents and certified organic producers and handlers to determine compliance with National Organic Program regulations.
Participating in complex or controversial investigations of alleged program violations, examines documentation, interviews subjects and witnesses, analyzes the facts, and prepares comprehensive written reports and findings.
Assisting in the development or revision of accreditation procedures for certifying agents and State Organic Programs.
Assisting in planning and organizing training events conducted by the Program or in cooperation with industry groups.
Presenting training to certifying agents, inspectors, auditors, and other interested parties.

Successful completion of one-year probationary period, unless previously served.

Qualifications

FOR THE GS-12 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-11 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates:
Assessing and evaluating agricultural programs or organizations for compliance with USDA regulations and policies.
Experience reviewing reports and quality management system documentation to determine the compliance of an agricultural production or processing operation.
Experience applying the USDA organic (National Organic Program) regulations at 7 CFR Part 205.
Experience with USDA certified organic crop production, wild crop harvesting, livestock production, or food processing; or experience participating in the certification of such operations.
Experience using electronic management systems to track, manage, and report workflow, activities, and performance measures.
Note: There is no education substitution for this grade level.
