Help
  • You will serve as an advisor to senior officials on matters pertaining to Environmental Protection Agency's mandated DOD Pesticide Applicator Certification Program
  • You will perform duties associated with medical entomology and pest control technology programs by the DOD.
  • You will make recommendations to senior officials regarding difficult problems of maintenance, improvement, management and utilization of the DOD pesticide applicator certification program
  • You will plan and provide instruction and technical guidance for personnel who are responsible for the surveillance and control of arthropod and animal vectors of disease
  • You will evaluate pest management problems to gain compliance with established policies, regulations, and plans
  • You will participate in conferences, meetings, and presentations involving problems or issues of pest management

POSITIVE EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: This position has a Positive Education Requirement. Failure to submit this information WILL result in an ineligible rating.

ALL APPLICANTS MUST MEET THE Basic Requirements

  1. Degree: entomology; or a related discipline of the biological or physical sciences that included at least 16 semester hours in entomology.

    OR

  2. Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major that included course work as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

Evaluation of Education: Applicants with major fields of study in biology, zoology, or invertebrate zoology may fully meet the basic educational requirements if their academic preparation included substantive instruction (including appropriate laboratory and field work) in basic general entomology, taxonomy, physiology, ecology, general and organic chemistry, general physics, and mathematics or statistics that provided some training in the analysis of variables.

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
  • Developing, coordinating, and teaching instruction for pest management (e.g., entomology, pesticide safety, health risk and first aid, etc.);
  • Analyzing, interpreting, and advising senior officials on regulations pertaining to pesticide application;
  • Evaluating scientific and technical information for inclusion into training and reference material;
  • Planning, organizing, and providing instruction and technical guidance on the surveillance and control of insect and animal vectors of disease;
  • Collecting, identifying, preparing, and preserving animal and plant specimens; AND
  • Interpreting, summarizing, and storing for retrieval, technical information on medical entomology and pest control technology.

  1. Full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in Entomology or a related discipline of the biological or physical sciences that included at least 16 semester hours in entomology, OR;
  2. Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major that included course work as shown in 1 above, plus appropriate experience or additional education
