The Greater Los Angeles VA Health Care System is seeking a full time Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in Nursing Service (Inpatient Mental Health). Located in Los Angeles, CA.
Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager/Charge Nurse/Team Leader, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides nursing care to the Veteran patient with consideration to psychosocial, cultural, and age specific needs. Demonstrates the knowledge and ability to provide a full range of practical nursing care to patients with a variety of physical and/or behavior problems, and knowledge of age specific differences from the adult or older population. Maintains acceptable standards within the health care setting and works under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or Physician. Provides nursing care in accordance with the overall philosophy of Ambulatory Care Service. Performs, as designated by appropriate supervisor, nursing care required to meet the nursing needs of the patients to include but not limited to; sets up and plans in advance for any clinic urgent care activity, anticipates needs of patients and providers, prepares patient for exams, obtains appropriate equipment and supplies without being reminded, obtains and records vital signs and required information to level appropriate for area of work.
Work Schedule: Full Time, Rotating Shifts. May include nights, weekends, and holidays. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 12/24/2020. Basic Requirements:
United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
English Language Proficiency: Must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d).
Education or Training: Must be a graduate of a practical or vocational nursing program approved by the appropriate State accrediting agency and/or the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing at the time the program was completed by the applicant, or have you completed Health care education in the military service or training in the military service.
Grade Determinations:
GS-6 Experience: Completion of at least one year at the GS 5 level or equivalent of qualifying experience as an LPN or LVN, fully meeting all performance requirements for the GS 5 LPN and am technically proficient in initiating, performing and completing assigned duties in providing care to variable patient populations. Completed work needs only a general review by a registered nurse (RN) or physician (ND/DO) for appropriateness and conformity with established policies/procedures.
