Duties

Help
  • You will create visual storytelling materials (presentations, graphics for social media and static displays, photos, videos, etc.) to communicate complicated concepts to diverse audiences.
  • You will research, prepare, and disseminate social media content, news releases and feature articles to local and national print and broadcast media.
  • You will plan and coordinate special events, activities, programs, and projects to meet organizational goals.
  • You will serve as a point of contact for local media representatives.
  • You will support emergency and disaster response public affairs activities throughout the Regional area of responsibility.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Utilizing graphic design, layout and/or visual storytelling concepts to communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences; 2) Developing and employing visual, written and oral communication methods in producing multimedia materials for social media, presentations, news releases, etc; 3) Analyzing programs to identify the most effective communication techniques to use in reaching different audiences; and 4) Applying written, oral and visual communication techniques and methods in providing advisory services to upper management and other various audiences. Education

The following education may be substituted for specialized experience:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

or

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.M., if related

or

A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. In which the percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equals one hundred percent.

This announcement uses the Defense Industrial Base, Major Range and Test Facilities direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.

This position is eligible for part time, full time or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management.

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. A relocation incentive may be authorized.

Recruitment incentives may be authorized to eligible new hires.

A 40 hour work week is typical for this position.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.

Physical Demands: Work is mostly sedentary. Evening and weekend work required. Frequent travel (up to 20%) is required via commercial and military air, sea, and land. Walking, bending, and standing for long periods of time may be required for meetings, conferences, site visits. Incumbent is on call and will carry communication tools (i.e., cellular, smartphone).

Work Environment: Work is performed in a well-lighted, ventilated and smoke-free office setting.
