Duties

Help
  • Ensure workforce receives on-the-job training and formal training.
  • Perform duties as Arms Room Manager, responsible for ensuring security and safety of equipment.
  • Dispatch police units to all activated alarms, emergency calls, and police service calls.
  • Ensure background checks on traffic and criminal offenses are properly preformed using the National Crime Information Center (NCIC).
  • Detain suspects of criminal offenses in temporary confinement detention cells.
  • Assess overall operation methods and procedures to ensure law enforcement and security needs are met.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • In accordance with Army Regulation 190-56 must be able to qualify initially and at a minimum, semi-annually recertify with assigned weapon(s) and handling of assigned weapon(s) to include less than lethal weapons.
  • In accordance with Army Regulation 190-56 all applicants are required to sign a condition of employment statement as part of the application process.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license and any installation and/or DoD license required for the type of vehicle being driven.
  • In accordance with Army Regulation 190-56 incumbent must take and pass an initial Physical Agility Test (PAT) and annually thereafter.
  • In accordance with AR 190-56 this position requires a police uniform and safety equipment (e.g., chemical protection masks must be snug to the face for personal protection).
  • In accordance with Army Regulation 190-56 incumbent must meet all requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP).
  • In accordance with Army Regulation 190-56 incumbent must complete an initial and an annual Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) recertification and first aid requirement.
  • In accordance with AR 190-56 incumbent must be able to be qualified and certified in the use of chemical aerosol irritants, tear gas, RADAR gun and breathalyzer equipment.
  • This position requires shift work and unscheduled overtime to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • Incumbent is required to pass all training, certification and qualifications requirements of the National Incident Management System (NIMS).
  • Incumbent must meet all other mandatory requirements of AR 190-56, "The Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program."
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • Incumbent is subject to possible civil and criminal action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing information related to law enforcement duties to other police officers on patrol or in the office and completing the initial review law enforcement reports.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
