As a Environmental Health Scientist you will:

• Provide environmental health science expertise to the full spectrum of duties
• Provide expertise in environmental public health or toxicology
• Provide consultative services to staff responsible for projects dealing with elimination or control of exposures to environmental contamination and the health hazards
• Provide scientific review and clearance of reports which document the analysis of technical information to assess the migration of environmental contaminants, human exposures, and associated health impacts
• Participate fully in review and clearance activities with respect to the collection and interpretation of data pertaining to environmental levels of contaminants and exposures,
• Supervise a small contingent of positions.
• Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work, when necessary.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (external link) at the time the degree was obtained.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 level of difficulty and responsibility in the Federal service as defined in the next paragraph.

Specialized experience is experience at or equivalent to which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include experience in environmental public health and/or toxicology and with providing scientific leadership for environmental health programs.
