Occasional travel - Conducts on-site examinations which require a physical ability to transverse remote country by cross country vehicles and on foot. Employee works alone while in the field under adverse weather conditions. Tempertures may vary between minus 10 degrees to exceeding 100 degrees. May be required to travel in small aircraft to remotes locations.

Yes—Travel and relocation expenses will be paid consistent with the Federal Travel Regulation, Chapter 302, and Departmental policy. Selectee will be responsible for tax obligations related to payments for moving expenses - 2017 Tax Cuts and Job Act, Public Law 115-97. Duties

Help
  • Prepare, analyze, and review case work on a variety of projects related to reality, such as land acquisition, permits, leases, etc. Review for accuracy and compliance in accordance with applicable regulatory and policy requirements
  • Create a variety of reports and queries using an automated land and records system.
  • Prepare, develop, update land management documents to support future demands and use.
  • Interact with various levels of local, State and Federal agencies, general public, private industry, and Bureau employees.
  • Provide technical expertise in support of decision affecting the Lands Program.

(GS-09) - You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following specialized experience in or directly related to examination or adjudication of cases involving laws and regulations dealing with land and resources. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include any one of the following: (1) adjudication or examination of applications and claims for the disposal, use of, or title to public lands, issuance of leases, licenses, or permits for land or resources use, and resolving conflicts arising from use; (2) title searching, abstracting, or interpreting land records, survey plats, or tract indexes and books, provided the work demonstrated an understanding of law, regulations, and policies associated with land management programs; and/or (3) work as a land appraiser that involved appraisal of undeveloped or marginal-type land.

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree as LL.B. or J.D., or if related, in business administration, public policy or administration, or land use planning

Combination of Education and Experience: You may meet qualifications requirement for this position with an equivalent combination of specialized experience and appropriate graduate education. Graduate level education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position.

(GS-11) - You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following specialized experience in or directly related to examination or adjudication of cases involving laws and regulations dealing with land and resources. Experience in or directly related to examination or adjudication of cases involving laws and regulations dealing with land and resources. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include any one of the following: (1) adjudication or examination of applications and claims for the disposal, use of, or title to public lands, issuance of leases, licenses, or permits for land or resources use, and resolving conflicts arising from use; (2) work in a legal field that includes substantial involvement in examinations of titles or other legal transactions involving acquisition, land use, lease or disposal of land; (3) title searching, abstracting, or interpreting land records, survey plats, or tract indexes and books, provided the work demonstrated an understanding of law, regulations, and policies associated with land management programs; and/or (4) work as a land appraiser that involved appraisal of undeveloped or marginal-type land.

Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related in business administration, public administration or policy, and land use planning.

Combination of Education and Experience: You may meet qualifications requirement for this position with an equivalent combination of specialized experience and appropriate graduate education. Graduate level education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position.

Tax Law Impact for PCS: On 22-Dec-2017, Public Law 115-97 - the "Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 suspended qualified moving expense deductions along with the exclusion for employer reimbursements and payments of moving expenses effective 01-Jan-2018 for tax years 2018 through 2025. The law made taxable certain reimbursements and other payments, including driving mileage, airfare and lodging expenses, en-route travel to the new duty station, and temporary storage of those items. The Federal Travel Regulation Bulletin (FTR) 18-05 issued by General Services Administration (GSA) has authorized agencies to use the Withholding Tax Allowance (WTA) and Relocation Income Tax Allowance (RITA) to pay for "substantially all" of the increased tax liability resulting from the "2018 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act" for certain eligible individuals.
