Duties

Help
  • Perform two-stage 100 percent quality control of all polygraph charts and allied documents collected during the worldwide support of Army law enforcement, Staff Judge Advocate, Trial Defense Service, unit Commanders, and other activities.
  • Advise management and appropriate Department of the Army and Department of Defense staff on significant trends or problems pertaining to Army Law Enforcement Polygraph Program policies, issues, initiatives, or specific polygraph examinations.
  • Provide training and monitorship to intern polygraph examiners.
  • Provide remedial training to all polygraph examiners to correct technical deficiencies.
  • Serve as staff advisor and action officer for polygraph examiner training applicants and requests for polygraph certification.
  • Represent USACIDC at various levels of Government regarding polygraph matters which may include briefings to senior officials and others.
  • Prepare and present lectures.
  • Conduct criminal investigation polygraph examinations.
  • Conduct pretest interviews of individuals to be examined.
  • Evaluate crime scenes and evidence.
  • Testify before grand juries, courts marshal, courts and administrative hearings on results of completed investigations.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Passing of pre-employment physical is required.
  • You must agree in writing to comply with management directed permanent change of station (PCS) movement to meet mission requirements.
  • You must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's (MVO) license at the time of appointment and must maintain license while employed in the position.
  • Position is subject the Lautenberg Amendment in accordance with Title 18, U.S.C., Section 922(g)(91). You must qualify with and carry a firearm.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain certification as a DoD Polygraph Examiner in accordance with DoD Directive 5210.48 and AR 195-6.
  • Required to sign a DA Form 5019-R (Condition of Employment for Certain Positions Identified as Critical Under the Drug Abuse Testing Program) and must pass urinalysis testing as required prior to appointment and periodically thereafter
  • Required to complete a SF-312, Classified Information Nondisclosure Agreement (NDA).

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experiencein planning and conducting criminal polygraph examinations, criminal investigations, and providing training and
technical evaluation of polygraph examiners.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Performance of above duties requires moderate to arduous physical exertion involving walking and standing, use of firearms, and exposure to inclement weather. Manual dexterity with comparatively free motion of finger, wrist, elbow, shoulder, hip, and knee joints is required. Arms, hands, legs, and feet must be sufficiently intact and functioning in order that the incumbent may perform the duties satisfactorily. Near vision, glasses permitted, must be acute for reading of printed materials the size of typewritten characters. The ability of incumbent to hear conversational voices and whispered speech is required. Any hearing impairment may be compensated for by use of a hearing aid. Since the duties of the position are exacting, responsible, and involve work performed under arduous and dangerous conditions, you must possess emotional and mental stability. Any physical condition, which would cause the applicant to be a hazard to himself/herself or to others, will disqualify him/her.

Law Enforcement Availability Pay (LEAP): LEAP in the amount of 25% has been approved for this position. Applicants must agree to work an average of two hours extra per day to meet the requirements for LEAP as described in 5 U.S.C.5545a(d)(1).
