Duties

Help
  • Develop, coordinate, and negotiate international agreements for collaboration on space and aeronautics activities.
  • Develop and provide briefing materials and policy guidance to NASA mission directorate, field center, and other officials to obtain the maximum possible benefit from international cooperative activities.
  • Convey information to NASA officials on the policies, regulations, and laws pertaining to international cooperation to enable NASA to achieve its mission and goals.
  • Act as liaison with international partner space and aeronautics agencies, other international organizations, and with U.S. government organizations. Obtain expertise and contacts to represent NASA positions on areas of mutual interest.
  • Provides information and advice to supervisor, other Office of International and Interagency Relations (OIIR) and senior Agency officials, in order to enable timely and effective decisions related to international partnerships on NASA missions.
  • Duties described above are at the full-performance level. Duties assigned at a lower grade level will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity; duties will be commensurate with the grade of selected employee.

Qualifications

Applicant must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-07), which has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above.

To qualify for the GS-9:

Specialized experience includes analyzing business or international relations scenarios to determine cause, effect, and make recommendations to affect outcomes. International experience such as; professional or academic travel, interaction with international colleagues, partners or clients

OR

Applicants may substitute the following education for the specialized experience requirements for the GS-9: Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education or master's or equivalent graduate degree. Applicants may qualify based on a combination of the experience and education requirements described above.

Applicant must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-09), which has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above.

To qualify for the GS-11:

Specialized experience includes communicating complex issues clearly and concisely in both written and verbal format; and relevant international experience such as; professional or academic travel, interaction with international colleagues, partners or clients

OR

Applicants may substitute the following education for the specialized experience requirements for the GS-11: A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a related field, or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. Applicants may qualify based on a combination of the experience and education requirements described above.

Applicant must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-11), which has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above.

To qualify for the GS-12:

Specialized experience includes policy formulation and agreements. International experience such as; professional or academic travel, interaction with international colleagues, partners or clients.
