Help

Duties included, but not limited to:

  • Reports findings to appropriate managers.
  • Communicates areas that need improvement, as well as areas of strength.
  • Works with staff to design supportive training curriculum to address staff performance concerns.
  • Collaborates with staff to maintain and monitor the delivery and effectiveness of the training program.
  • Develops and implements training materials including Power Points, Webinars, manuals, etc.
  • Utilizes role play scenarios and coordinated activities related to the program of instruction offered.
  • Functions as a preceptor to new employees and those needing retraining to evaluate the application of learning.
  • Provides support and areas of instruction for outreach calls including connecting with Veterans, assessment, call flow, listening techniques, and call documentation.
  • Listening attentively and reviewing PS actions and interpersonal processes.
  • Knowledge and experience in instruction and coaching small groups of individuals in a classroom setting.
  • Skill in using oral and written communication effectively.
  • Skill in applying attention to detail and general ability to perform work independently.
  • Ability to adapt to dynamic, quickly changing telecommunications environment.
  • Evaluates the new employee's adherence to all training standards to provide feedback to Peer Support Outreach Center (PSOC) leadership about readiness to commence job duties.
  • Evaluates new employee's needs for additional supportive training or remediation based on initial performance.
  • Responsible for silent call monitoring of individual Peer Support.
  • Uses standardized tools to objectively identify whether pre-set performance standards are met by Peer Support.
  • Provides private one-on-one coaching and feedback to the individual PS on the soft and technical skills observed.
  • Communicates both positive and corrective feedback to staff in a way that is supportive and constructive.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM with a day and evening shift.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/27/2020.

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-11 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-9. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.

Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-09 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience include:
1. Administering, teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, formal program of instruction, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate fields.
2. Establishing working relationships with a variety stakeholders and integral program areas and coordinate training schedules to determine departmental needs and gaps.
3. Using instructional technologies such as computer-based training, interactive courseware, or video tele-training in instructional programs.
4. Developing, creating and modifying course materials and tests, and training plans for specific audiences (i.e. various business lines and employee learning styles) based on instructional design principles.
5. Responsible for overall maintenance of assigned courses and determine the need for and initiate changes in course material and tests with subject-matter expert or stakeholder.

Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successful completion of 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree OR Ph.D. OR equivalent doctoral degree, related to the position. (One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that number cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered an academic year of graduate study.) (NOTE: if using education to meet the specialized experience requirement, a copy of your TRANSCRIPT IS REQUIRED).

Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education (beyond the masters level) and specialized experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary within a call center environment. Typically, the employee sits to do the work. There may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items (such as books, papers).
