Collects, prepares, evaluates, and verifies samples for water and soil and supporting records
Assists in one or more phases of the field or chemistry research process by performing a variety of technical duties, in a field or laboratory environment, common to the assigned area of work.
Assist in routine and recurring techniques and studies using a variety of specialized equipment.
Tabulates, statistically analyzes and summarizes data using personal computers and software packages.

Qualifying experience for GS-05 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-04 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience assisting with collecting or evaluating water or soil samples in a laboratory or field environment; recording or analyzing scientific data; and operating standard scientific equipment or performing scientific techniques.

Education:
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree (a) with major study in an appropriate field of physical science, or (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as physical science, engineering, or any branch of mathematics, except financial and commercial mathematics.

A combination of education and experience as described above.
