Duties

Help
  • Providing daily work assignments, instructions, and guidance to Documents Inspection Technicians (DITs) and Printing Plant Worker's (Materials Handler).
  • Ensuring that physical security procedures, rules and RBPC protocols are followed.
  • Analyzing documentation, tests electronic equipment, and reviews computer chips to determine reasons for rejection pertaining to all manufacturing waste.
  • Observing and reviewing products and verifies quality assurance processes; and interacts with officials at the Department of State (DOS).
  • Participating in meetings with GPO and DOS managers to review quality data, to discuss disputes regarding rejected products and provide input to resolve concerns.

  • Work Environment-The work is performed in an office and inspection room. The incumbent may be exposed to everyday risks and discomfort of typical office and meeting settings.

Qualifications

To qualify for the Lead Quality Assurance Specialist, PG-1910-11, you must meet the following requirements:
Incumbent must have at least one year of specialized experience at the PG-9 or equivalent grade level or higher in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Identifying, preventing and correcting defects in Passports, Smart Cards and other Secure Credentials.

OR

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a field of study such as: quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or other fields related to the position. OR Three (3) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a field of study such as: quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or other fields related to the position. To qualify for the Lead Quality Assurance Specialist, PG-1910-12, you must meet the following requirements:
Incumbent must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the PG-11 or equivalent grade level or higher in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Identifying, preventing and correcting defects in Passports, Smart Cards and other Secure Credentials; and analyzing documentation, testing electronic equipment and reviewing computer chips to determine reasons for rejection pertaining to all manufacturing waste.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or other fields related to the position.

Salary Range
-PG-11 The Selectee may work Shift 1 with a salary range of $72,030-$93,638 which does not include the 10% Night Rate; OR
-PG-12 The Selectee may work Shift 1 with a salary range of $86,335-$112,240 which does not include the 10% Night Rate; OR
-PG-11 The Selectee may work Shift 2 or Shift 3 with a salary range of $ 79,223.00 - $ 103,002.00 which includes 10% Night Rate; OR
-PG-12 The Selectee may work Shift 2 or Shift 3 with a salary range of $ 94,968.00 - $ 123,464.00 which includes 10% Night Rate

Background Investigation:
To ensure the accomplishment of its mission, the GPO requires every employee to be reliable and trustworthy. To meet those standards, all selected applicants must undergo and successfully completed a background investigation for a Secret security clearance . This review could include financial issues such as delinquency in the payment of debts, child support and/or tax obligations, as well as certain criminal offenses and illegal use or possession of drugs. Depending on the type of background investigation required, the security process may take between 6 weeks to 12 months.

The Agency may rescind the tentative offer, if the candidate is unable to obtain an interim clearance.
