Duties

Help
  • You will operate pumps, valves, filter separators and other necessary equipment to load, unload, and transfer liquid fuels and or similar products through pipelines and hoses to fuel storage tanks and mobile refueling units.
  • You will set pipeline and tank valves to regulate flow rate during issues and receiving of different types of petroleum products.
  • You will make adjustments to pumps, valves, couples and uncouples hoses and takes other safety precautions that may be required in the operation of receipt by barge insuring dockside operations.
  • You will operate the Defense Fuels Automated Management Systems (DFAMS) for fuel inventory, accounting and reconciliation

The Screen-out Element for this position is: I have the ability to perform common tasks including controlling and monitoring liquid fuels movements; operating fuel distribution systems (FDS) by use of remote switches and valves, portable and stationary pumps, and accessory equipment to load, off-load, and transfer fuel and petroleum products; aligning pipelines, valves, and switches; monitoring levels and pressures during transfer; taking corrective actions; making adjustments to pumps, valves, couples and uncouples hoses and takes other safety precautions; using specialized liquid fuel testing equipment and conducts tests for contamination and additives; recording gauge readings; determining water content in fuel; taking samples for testing; complying with laws and regulations for governing the receipt/issue of fuel; performing preventive and breakdown maintenance of fuel distribution systems (FDS); operating automated Management Systems (DFAMS) for fuel inventory, accounting and reconciliation. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
