Summary

This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration. As a Supervisory Conservator, responsible for supervising a portion of the Conservation Branch staff, managing conservation services, and providing technical expertise in preventive conservation, digitization, and conservation treatment. Duties

Help

As a Supervisory Conservator, you will:
-Plan, manage and direct the work of RXC lab staff in coordination with the other Supervisory Conservator including evaluate staff performance, promote team building and staff morale, establish laboratory policies as appropriate and lead laboratory health & safety priorities and training;
-Oversee laboratory purchasing and efficient use of available resources as well as ensuring conservation laboratory equipment is fully functional, maintained and serviced;
-Oversee the examination, treatment and care of the rarest and most complex documents in the National Archives holdings;
-Serve as a NARA technical expert in multiple areas: conservation and preservation methodology and treatment of archival materials, preventive -conservation, conservation and preservation training, records emergency response and preparedness, and preservation requirements for exhibition and digitization of archival materials.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized Experience: For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
-planning and executing preservation and conservation treatment projects; AND
-clearly communicating with stakeholders on preservation issues including developing guidance and presenting training on preventive conservation and preservation
