Summary

Leads the coordination of science partners to achieve mission and goals of the Atlantic Coast Joint Venture
Works with partners and staff to develop, coordinate, and implement technical activities, products and tools that address challenges associated with sustaining coastal marsh bird species
Coordinates the implementation of biological planning, conservation design, conservation delivery (science delivery), monitoring and research to help guide more effective conservation actions on the ground
Sets goals and objectives for priority species and relates population goals to habitat needs
Analyzes biological data and develops spatially explicit models that link biological parameters with landscape characteristics

BASIC QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT: In order to meet the basic qualification requirement for the GS-0401 series as a Fish and Wildlife Biologist, your application materials must demonstrate that you meet either A or B below. You must submit copies of transcripts that reflect all of your course work, grades, and hours earned semester and/or quarter, in order to receive consideration for this position.
A. Degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
B. Combination of education and experience that is equivalent to a major in a biological science. The quality of the combination of education and experience must be sufficient to demonstrate that the applicant possesses the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform work in the occupation, and is comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of a full 4-year course of study with a major in the appropriate field. In addition to courses in the major and related fields, a typical college degree would have included courses that involved analysis, writing, critical thinking, research, etc. These courses would have provided an applicant with skills and abilities sufficient to perform progressively more responsible work in the occupation. Therefore, creditable experience should have demonstrated similarly appropriate skills or abilities needed to perform the work of the occupation.
To be found qualified for the position at GS-12 grade level, your application materials must demonstrate that you have the specialized experience described below, in addition to meeting one of the Basic Qualification Requirements listed above:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service supporting partnerships to protect migratory birds or other wildlife and their habitats; using statistical software to analyze and evaluate biological data related to wildlife and habitat conservation; synthesizing information from various sources to develop reports and management recommendations for migratory birds or other wildlife; and negotiating effectively with partners on technical issues related to wildlife conservation.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
