Lead team responsible for press outreach, social media, speechwriting, employee and partner communications, and leadership participation in events for the federal agency that oversees AmeriCorps and Senior Corps.
Drive ambitious earned media strategy to inform Americans of opportunities to serve with AmeriCorps and Senior Corps, engaging local and national media, collaborating with elected officials, and leveraging our organization's significant impact in communities across the country. Tracks success and adjusts as necessary.
Oversee development and execution of a social media plans to grow and engage followers that is based on the latest industry best practices. Tracks success and adjusts as necessary.
Identify, prioritize and secure opportunities for leadership to speak at events where they will reach audiences important to furthering agency goals. Ensure they are appropriately briefed and manage work of speechwriter.
Direct, review and draft supporting collateral, including presentations, press releases, fact sheets, blog posts, letters, speeches, opinion pieces, and other public-facing materials.
Collaborate with CEO, other senior leaders and key internal and external stakeholders to ensure activities fully support the agency's priorities and mission of service.
A 2-year probationary period is required for new Federal employees
Merit Promotion applicants must submit a SF-50 to verify Status and grade
Must be telework ready
Satisfactory completion of a background investigation
This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.
Qualifications
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to at least the upper range of the NY-03 pay band, which would be at or equivalent to, the GS-13 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.Specialized experience includes:
Supervising staff,
Leading team responsible for press outreach, social media, employee communications, speech writing,
Creates communications campaigns for significant events,
Directs, reviews and drafts supporting collateral, including presentations, press releases, fact sheets, blog posts, letters, speeches, opinion pieces, as well as other public-facing materials, and
Providing support for leadership participation in events.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.Such experience must be clearly documented in the applicant's resume.
