Summary

About the Position: This position manages the day-to-day operations of medical simulation training within the Hospital Education Department.
About the Location: Fairbanks Alaska is host to many different cultures and sporting activities such as fishing, hunting, hiking, camping, snowboarding and skiing. Winter brings consistent snow conditions from November through March. Winter temperatures average 8 degrees F to -19 degrees F; summer temperatures rise into the 70s and 80s.

Duties

Help
  • Serves as a primary source for all instruction on use of simulation devices and applications in a variety of training and certification programs for various types of health care providers.
  • Provides oversight for healthcare providers' simulation requirements; programs simulation scenarios and produces simulation learning materials.
  • Manages the calibration and repair for simulators/equipment and manages all infection control procedures for simulator and other medical devices, to include monitoring proper cleaning and disposal of medical by-products.
  • Manages the reception area of Hospital Education to include assisting with signing up students for courses, registering and trouble-shooting a variety of online training applications.
  • Acquires, maintains, and tracks simulation equipment and/or supplies and for the turn-in of equipment/supplies.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes entering and retrieving data using office automation tools and maintaining training records and/or documentation. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
OR
Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Management & Communications, Education and/or Health Sciences.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
