Duties

Help
  • Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of Force Support Squadron?s IT Office ensuring that NAF funds point of sale and business systems complies with legal and regulatory requirements, payment card industry security standards and customer need.
  • Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
  • Represents the Force Support Squadron with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
  • Serves as the Senior Systems Administrator and provides technical guidance and instruction to users and other Information Technology (IT) specialists.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the general experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Positions.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience for GS-0335-10 level positions which includes knowledge and troubleshooting skills necessary to analyze and diagnose method, procedures and principles for identifying system failures, take corrective actions to resume normal operations, and implement procedures to allow for partial use until problems are resolved. Knowledge is required of some elements of programming, systems analysis, and equipment operations. Skill in implementing back-up recovery procedures, recognizing priority contentions, and other similar actions involving knowledge of the equipment; programs and operating options. Skill in troubleshooting and resolving problems with information systems equipment located in the organization to include computers, scanners, printers, terminals, and servers. Sufficient skills also needed in diagnosing and resolving problems with telecommunications, and LAN systems to carry out assignments. Ability to apply knowledge of current automation technology and practices to use and maintain a computer system, equipment and software; analyze computer network, software and hardware problems and develop effective and economical solutions and train users on new computer systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the GS-09 grade/level position or equivalent in the federal service.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Applicants must have served at least 52 weeks at the GS-09 or higher grade (or equivalent in an alternate pay system) within the Federal Civil Service to be considered for referral. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

1. Knowledge of IT concepts and methods, installed operating systems, network systems, applications, protocols, equipment, and point-of-sales and credit card processing systems sufficient to serve as senior systems administrator and technical analyst with responsibility for planning and carrying out difficult and complex assignments and resolving the most complex problems.
2. Knowledge of IT security principles, concepts, practices, products and services; methods for evaluating risks and vulnerabilities and implementing mitigating improvement; and disseminating IT security tools and procedures for a variety of point-of-sales and business systems.
3. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
4. Skill in managing point-of-sales and business systems along with the security provisions of DoD and AF Cybersecurity requirements and the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI-DSS).
5. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization.
6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
