The National Science Foundation is seeking a highly qualified, innovative, customer-oriented, leader who will serve as a Branch Chief in Division of Administrative Services.

The duties of this position include the following:

  • Manages and coordinates a wide variety of functions — including managing the Foundation’s conference facilities, videoconferencing, travel services, supporting information technology, and library services which impact the entire Foundation as well as its various external constituencies.
  • Reviews the planning and assessment process to identify potential improvements, directs actions to enhance program effectiveness, and adjusts operations as necessary to ensure that performance related program goals and metrics are relevant to critical NSF initiatives and programs, address clients' needs and interests, and are properly integrated with the objectives of DAS and OIRM organizations. 
  • Coordinates with NSF staff, management and representatives of other Government agencies in conjunction with the Foundation's mission in the above areas.
  • Directs the preparation of internal policies and Foundation directives in response to legislation. The incumbent personally prepares or directs the conduct of long- and short-range projects and studies in the functional areas of responsibility to facilitate the overall planning of systems and services for the Foundation.

Qualifications

To qualify at the GS-15 level, you must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level in federal service. Examples of specialized experience include: financial, human and physical resources planning; budget development and administration; performing policy program and regulatory analysis; monitoring human resources operations and performance management of employees.

Education may enhance skills required for this position; however, no substitution of education for specialized experience may be made at this level.

* Applicants must obtain their supervisor's approval to apply for any detail opportunity. * Any candidate selected for a detail will remain at his/her current grade and rate of pay. * This detail/temporary promotion is for a period of (120-days) and may be extended up to (one year) without further competition. * The detail/temporary promotion may be terminated at any time during this period. * Upon conclusion of the detail/temporary promotion, you will be returned to your former office and position/grade.

Relocation Expenses will not be paid.
